Why Linux developers use Maestro

Apps for running coding agents in parallel — including Conductor — have mostly been Mac-only. Maestro runs natively on Linux, and adds a few things on top:

No workspace cap. Run as many parallel agents as your machine can handle — there is no limit on open workspaces.
Every major agent CLI. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, Kimi Code — or a plain shell workspace.
True isolation. Each workspace is its own git worktree on its own branch, so agents never trample each other's changes.
Review without leaving. Read the diff, edit files in the built-in editor (including Jupyter notebooks), preview web apps in the integrated browser, and open a PR from the app.
Local folders and SSH remotes. Work in plain folders or on remote machines over SSH, including hosts behind ProxyCommand / ProxyJump.

Does Conductor run on Linux?

No — Conductor ships only for macOS (as of August 2026). Maestro is a Linux-native alternative that does the same core job, and it also runs on macOS and Windows. See the full comparison →

Which distros are supported?

The AppImage is distro-agnostic: it runs on Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, Arch, and anything else with a 64-bit x86 desktop. There's nothing to install or package.

Which coding agents work on Linux?

Any harness you have installed: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, and Kimi Code are supported, and a plain shell workspace works with anything else.

Is Maestro free?

Yes. Maestro is free on all three platforms.
